Los Angeles Lakers fire LeBron James’ coach Darvin Ham

The Los Angeles Lakers have terminated head coach Darvin Ham after two seasons at the helm of the team.

There was great unrest in Laker-land this past season. The fanbase agitation emanates from the Lakers trudging through the regular season with uninspiring play and listless defensive effort, resulting in a mediocre record, 47-35, for the second consecutive season. They were relegated to the NBA play-in tournament in 2024 and then were vanquished in the first round of the playoffs by the defending champions Denver Nuggets, 4-1.

The angst was exacerbated by the fact that the Lakers went 1-11 against their archrival Nuggets in the past 12 games.

Lakers general manager Robert Pelinka spewed perfunctory bromides about Ham as he headed out the door.

“We greatly appreciate Darvin’s efforts on behalf of the Lakers and recognize the many accomplishments achieved over the past two seasons including last year’s remarkable run to the Western Conference Finals.”

“We all want to thank Darvin for his dedication and positivity. While this was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action following a full review of the season. This organization will remain unwavering in its commitment to deliver championship-caliber basketball to Lakers fans around the world.”

Overall, Ham finished 90-74 in the two seasons, including 11-12 in the playoffs, which is far from acceptable to the Lakers’ front office and rabid fanbase.

According to CBS Sports, Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, J.J. Redick, and current Clippers coach Ty Lue are the leading candidates to replace Ham.

  1. I’m glad he’s gone. He didn’t know how to Coach. Especially taking DeAngelo out the game after he’s scoring sit him down and bring out Dinwing. He can’t play that well.

  2. Darvin Ham was NOT the problem!! LeBron James is the problem!! He needs to retire!! He’s DONE!! You all trying to build a team around a washed up player! You WON’T win any more championships with washed up James!!

      1. Some things just doesn’t need to be said. Especially if you don’t have anything N🔥CE to say…

      2. What autocratic hole did you climb out of? Criticize his play but don’t taint your comment with MAGA Trumy-based lunacy. Your words tell us exactly who you are and what you represent.

    1. Very true !!! And he always get s all the credits; this is not fair to Anthony Davis, Delo and the rest. This is the hidden fact…..

    2. I agree. LeBron is only on Lakers for himself as he only scores for himself and getting paid as he’s also wasting laker salary cap and heard a rumor he isn’t retiring because he wants to play with his son wtf lol. Guy needs to retire so Lakers can get other players with salary cap

    3. He’s not washed up he still play good it’s the Coach an the other players that’s not doing they job go somewhere with that talk dude for real

      1. I agree, LeBron is definitely a scoring machine, he does need to play better on defense, but he’s not the only one, the Lakers need other players to step up and score on a regular and play some intense defense!

  3. James is the problem. A once respected franchise is now an embarrassment to the NBA. A complete clown show.

  4. Ham is a terrible coach, Lebron James continues to ball out every year. His stats speak for themselves, so stop blaming Lebron for that bum ass coach!

  5. I agree Matt. James wasn’t really focus on the season number one he was too busy trying to break records and playing on the same team with his son …I mean give it up James the bus stops here.. you had an amazing career.. but it’s time to take a seat bruh…

    1. IDK WHY YALL WASTIN YALL TIME COMMENTING ABOUT LEBRON HE AINT READING ABOUT YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT HIM AND THE COACH THEY SHOULD’VE FIRED HIM LAST YEAR

  6. LeBron should not start he would better serve the team coming off the bench, he could be an incredible second half spark, imagine a fresh LeBron for a whole second half, if your within 10 points it’s a sure win !

    1. Yo it’s crazy you say this because I have said that about past teams. Like imagine James Harden coming off the bench. That’s a whole different spark 🤷🏿‍♂️

  7. I wonder if it’s time that we need LeBron to retire and have Kevin Durant be a Lakers now and or better yet get Dwight Howard to be a Laker again.

  8. Your right. Lebron is always the problem. With his crying flopping self he will never win another championship. I don’t care who coaches the Lakers he would do the Lakers a favor if he would just retire. And a shout out to Darvin Ham he wasn’t the problem I know he done a great job. I hope he gets another job. And eliminate the Lakers next season. Lebron James ain’t no goat either. He’s nothing but a 250 pound cry baby.

    1. David Jacobs….couldn’t have said it better myself. There is NOTHING left to be said…. Mic 🎤drop moment David. Last nail in the coffin ⚰️ “Lower it down boys “….

  9. I agree. LeBron would be better off the bench. But you can’t blame he for a losing season. It’s a team sport and that requires everyone to do what they get paid millions to do is give the fans their money worth. I mean starting a 1 to 11 season wasn’t going to work. Hopefully they rebuild and make us proud next year.

  10. Probably James threatened the front office to fire the coach or else he’ll be gone.that crap didnt work with Pat Riley. James think he can coach. No man.like Pat said your job is to play basketball.

  11. Think its all dumb.. I mean really why even have a coach. The players are going to do what they want on the floor anyway. If anyone should be blamed its the players.. they obviously did not want it bad enough..
