Anthony Davis-produced film ‘Finding Tony’ tells touching redemption story

NBA Superstar Anthony Davis is making his debut foray into the movie business by executive producing a new independent feature film, Finding Tony.

The heartfelt story centers on former NBA star Tony Greene (Stephen Bishop), a clinically depressed alcoholic who is haunted by his wife’s murder in a home invasion nearly twenty years ago.  Walking around as a shell of himself, his life turns around after his best friend, Dr. Terrence Daniel (David Banner), convinces him to coach a local community’s women’s college basketball team.

While coaching the team, Greene comes across Destiny (Raquel Justice), a 17-year-old orphan with an amazing jump shot and an equally bad attitude. Though their personalities initially clash, Tony can’t deny the potential in the troubled young woman, and the pair slowly but surely find common ground throughout the season and help each other in unexpected ways.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Raven Magwood Goodson, the triumphant film features a cast that includes Columbus Short, Josh Ventura and Rodney Perry.

“I’m super excited for people to be inspired by this film and the many subtle messages throughout,” says Goodson.

Finding Tony will be released exclusively on May 10 on findingtonyfilm.com before being released on Amazon, Apple TV and other TVOD platforms in June.

  1. Ok, ok. I’m biased. I am his mother. But this is the first time I’ve seen in one production the full range of Stephen Bishop’s acting ability. He kills this role and the movie itself brought me to tears. See it.
