Tyrese gets shut down by Niko McKnight

Niko McKnight had some words for Tyrese after the singer and actor showed support for fellow singer Brian McKnight in the wake of the backlash the elder McKnight is facing for disowning his older kids.

“Tyrese used to sleep under our pool table when I was a kid,” Niko McKnight wrote in an Instagram Stories post on Tuesday, May 7.

“I know the ’90s RnB [sic]] brotherhood blood is thicker than anything but you should sit this one out champ. You have relationships to fix with your own children and your own past decisions you’ve made on behalf of p—- and power,” McKnight continued alluding to Tyrese’s own turbulent personal relationships.

“The allegiance to those two things is what keeps you guys from seeing that the only thing that matters in the end is family. Real men can see past the bulls—. Let me stop though. This 46-hr chemo infusion has me ready to fade Jody,” he added referencing Tyrese’s popular character in the movie Baby Boy, as well as the chemotherapy he’s undergoing for his recently announced cancer diagnosis.

“That’s not right. Peace and Prosperity,” concluded Niko.

Brian McKnight made news last month when he wrote in an Instagram post that his older children Brian Jr., Niko, and Brianna were a “product of sin” and insinuated that they were “evil and negativity” he needed to get out of his life.

After comedian and media personality Rickey Smiley shared a message of support on Instagram to the elder McKnight children as well as McKnight’s ex-wife Julie, Tyrese responded to Smiley’s post in his own set of Instagram Stories in defense of the senior McKnight.

“I literally know Brian,” Tyrese wrote. “I have not had one conversation with Brian McKnight about his wife, his kids, or anything that went down between them — nor is it my business. Nor is it my place to ask ‘What happened man, what’s going on?’ None of my business. What I am addressing and talking about is I feel like it is not fair to act as if relationships between men and their children that at some point become adults can’t fall apart and can’t become extremely volatile and toxic.”

Thus far, Brian McKnight has yet to comment on Tyrese’s nor Niko’s remarks.

While he continues to not acknowledge his older children, the singer-songwriter proudly proclaims himself as father to his stepchildren, Jack and Julia, as well as his 16-month-old son, Brian Kainoa Makoa, whom he recently welcomed with current wife, Leilani Mendoza.
