DJ Akademiks accused of rape, defamation in lawsuit

DJ Akademiks is the subject of an explosive sexual assault lawsuit. A former girlfriend accuses the influencer of raping her and enabling his friends also to assault her sexually.

Akademiks, 32, who was born Livingston Allen in Spanish Town, Jamaica, is the controversial YouTuber infamously involved in the current explosive rap beefs involving Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Metro Boomin, Future, Rick Ross, J. Cole, and other iconic emcees.

According to court documents obtained by HipHopDX that were filed by Akademiks’ ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe, she claims she was gang-raped by Akademiks and two of his friends at his house in July 2022. Akademiks vehemently denied Abashe’s accusations on his YouTube channel.

In the court filings in Essex County, New Jersey, about 15 miles east of New York, Abashe said she was invited to Akademiks’ home in July 2022. She said two of his friends drugged her, got her drunk, and then sexually assaulted her.

Abashe said she remembers “being awakened naked in a bed in what she believed was Mr. Allen’s bedroom. She believes this was around 4 a.m. She was awoken by Mr. Allen savagely, pulling her hair, prying open her legs, and…brutally raping her.”

The alleged victim also accuses Akademiks of defaming her by accusing her of being a willing participant in an “orgy” with the two men while simultaneously denying his own participation.

“Mr. Allen and his two accomplices’ sexual assault severely injured Ms. Abashe, causing significant physical and psychological pain and suffering, loss of dignity, and invasion of her privacy,” Abashe’s attorney wrote in the lawsuit. “Mr. Allen’s public statements added to the harm Ms. Abashe was already silently suffering with.”

During a January 2024 soliloquy on Rumble, Akademiks categorically denied Abashe’s account and, in fact, said he helped the police during their investigation.

“This situation went to the cops over a year and a half ago,” he proclaimed in January. “Me and my lawyer were openly cooperative because [when it comes to] serious allegations — I don’t care who’s involved — I don’t want weird s— happening around me.”

Akademkis continued, “We helped the police. ‘Whatever you need! You want a phone? You want passcodes? Let’s decrypt our DVR.’ There is nothing they did not see … You know what the result of that investigation was? It was officially ruled by the D.A. and the police that there was nothing there. There ain’t no charges; there won’t be no charges and there’s documentation to say, ‘We looked at everything — everybody’s clear.’ Not only for me, for everybody involved.”

In a video released on YouTube on Tuesday afternoon, May 14, 2024, Akademiks addresses the civil lawsuit levied against him by Abashe, reiterating some of the same points he made four and five months ago.
