Aubrey O’Day calls out Diddy’s apology as inauthentic

Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day has publicly expressed her dissatisfaction with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent apology, which followed the release of a 2016 video showing an altercation between Combs’ and his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. O’Day criticized the music mogul for not directly apologizing to Ventura and questioned the sincerity of his remorse.

Diddy’s apology under scrutiny

After CNN aired the disturbing footage, Diddy took to social media to address the incident.

“I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man every day,” he statedat the end of his Instagram video. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

However, this public statement did not sit well with O’Day, who accused Combs of only apologizing because the world witnessed his actions, not because he directly wanted to apologize to Ventura.

O’Day’s response to Diddy’s statement

O’Day — who has had her history with Combs — referenced his past comments where he dismissed accusers as seeking financial gain.

“Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did,” she stated when she took to social media to voice her opinion. She further criticized Combs’ attempt to involve divine forgiveness in his apology, suggesting that neither God nor mercy was present in his actions.

Public reaction to the assault footage

The release of the hotel surveillance video has sparked conversations about accountability and the treatment of women in the entertainment industry. O’Day herself hinted at a broader picture being revealed, potentially alluding to systemic issues within the industry or Combs’ conduct.
