Metro Boomin makes $100K donation to women-based charities

Metro Boomin is putting his money where his mouth is with a sizeable donation to five women-focused non-profit organizations.

The 30-year-old award-winning producer revealed plans to donate $20k to each of the charities in his hometown of St. Louis for a total of $100,000. According to Variety, the producer, born Leland Wayne, put together the charitable initiative in honor of his late mother, Leslie Wayne, who was killed by her boyfriend in a tragic June 2023 murder-suicide incident.

“I’ve seen firsthand the work that goes into being a single mother,” Metro said in a statement. “Mine was my inspiration and my hero. It’s very important to me to pay it forward, because I see the same resilience and dedication in the women these organizations work with.”

In a partnership with Rung for Women and Amazon Access, the Leslie Joanne Soirée holiday event was held in December to kick off the fundraising initiative and the hitmaking beatsman recently delivered the checks to five handpicked organizations dedicated to helping single moms with expenses such as rent, childcare, and utilities. Recipients of the Metro’s donation include Almost Home, Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation, the Haven of Grace, the Little Bit Foundation, and Parents as Teachers.

“We are excited to partner with Metro Boomin in his work to lift up single mothers in St. Louis,” said Leslie Gill, president of Rung for Women. “Inspired by the remarkable love he has for his late mother, he is demonstrating a commitment to women and to our community.”

Metro Boomin is also hard at work on launching his own nonprofit organization to continue his philanthropic endeavors.

Elsewhere on the heels of his two number one collaborative albums with Future, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, Metro Boomin is gearing up for a 27-city North American tour slated to kick off on July 30 in Kansas City and wrapping up on September 9 in Vancouver, BC.
