A Georgia state representative who publicly implied being affiliated with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was exposed for being a false organization member.
On May 21, Democrat Georgia state Rep. Angela Moore won her re-election bid to represent District 91. On May 20, the Southern regional director of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Amaris L. Johnson, released an official statement about Moore.
“As it relates to the election of the Georgia State Representative District 91, there is only one candidate (Dee Dawkins-Haigler) that is a duly initiated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,” the statement read. “This email is not an endorsement for any candidate. However, I have received numerous emails regarding the membership status of candidate Angela Moore for the aforementioned position. Although Ms. Moore continues to represent herself in various forums as a member of Delta Sigma Theta, there are no records to support her membership.”
In this year’s election, Moore defeated Dawkins-Haigler by 1,363 votes, according to Fox5.
On Jan. 12, 2021, Moore posted on X, then known as Twitter, “Happy Founders Day ΔΣΘ !” The post accompanied a headshot of Moore wrapped inside a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. frame. The frame read that the sorority was celebrating 108 years of “celebrating our legacy of fortitude.”

Why would anyone lie about being a Delta? Weird behavior. I am not a member of any sorority and would never perpetuate that I was.
