Jamie Foxx, Tisha Campbell lead parody comedy ‘Not Another Church Movie’

Not Another Church Movie is NOT a Tyler Perry film…but it does lovingly poke fun at his movies.

In the tradition of classic parody films like Airplane and Don’t Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, comedian and writer/producer Johnny Mack (“Real Husbands of Hollywood”) wrote and directed this hilarious send up of some of Perry’s most popular films like The Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea Goes To Jail, Meet The Browns, and Why Did I Get Married?

The movie centers on ambitious Taylor Pherry (Kevin Daniels), who is tapped by God himself (Jamie Foxx) to help struggling talk show host Hoprah Windfall (Luc Ashley) rebrand her show to attract new viewers. When the Devil (Mickey Rourke) catches wind of God’s plan, he sets out to sabotage Pherry’s progress, but God sends Pherry on a new mission: to help Hoprah write a movie. Drawing inspiration from all the crazy women in his life, Pherry sets out to follow the word of God with hilarious results.

Along with Daniels, Foxx, and Rourke, the gut-busting film also stars Jasmine Guy, Kyla Pratt, Lamorne Morris, Lydia Styslinger,  T’Shaun Barrett, Tisha Campbell, and Vivica A. Fox.

Not Another Church Movie is currently playing in select theaters across the country.

  1. I am not sure about this movie. Is it silly?
Not encouraging? From the trailer, I could not tell. Living in the last days, we must be mindful that people are hungry for encouragement. It would be nice to see comedy that leaves the people hopeful.
