Many Martin Lawrence fans were disquieted by what they deemed as bizarre behavior during his promotion for the latest Bad Boys movie opposite Will Smith.
After watching the Lawrence and Smith interview with “Extra” reporter Melvin Robert about Bad Boys: Ride or Die while hosting the “On the Run Cadet Academy” special at Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles, fans noted Lawrence’s conspicuously slurred speech.
“Martin is NOT OK. Get well Marty Mar,” one person said in the Neighborhood Watch’s comment section.
Another added, “Something is really off about Martin. His slow reaction, Stumbling of words.”
A third commenter also noticed that “Martin seems a little slow and off! Like he’s had some kind of medical issue.”
A fourth person, however, said that Lawrence looks good as he approaches 60 years on Earth. “I can’t wait for this movie I’ve never missed one! Both of you guys looking good. Health is wealth. My oldest brother always says joker when he’s speaking of someone.”
To be sure, Lawrence has had medical issues in the past, particularly with bipolar disorder. During a 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence said, “I’ve been dealing with this for a long time. It’s a part of me. I’m not going to let it define me.”
Other fans came to Lawrence’s defense and said he’s simply dealing with the trauma of losing folks close to him recently.
“It’s so obvious … he’s grieving … he shouldn’t be doing Interviews at the moment. Let him take some time out,” one fan said in the comments section of the “Comedy Hype” YouTube post.
“The man is grieving. He’s on front street dealing with a loss. D—, he’s a human being,” said a second person.
A third supporter added: “His voice sounds like someone trying not to breakdown. Come on now, he literally said I just lost my brother … SMH People always pay attention to the wrong stuff.”

Looks like Martin has symptoms of recovering from a stroke. The delayed reaction to questions and difficulty pronouncing words and speaking with delayed function, struggling with words is all symptoms of stroke. Praying for Martin because we all love him. He is so talented and funny. Looking forward to seeing the movie.
During bad boy 1 the movie was filmed at my mom’s apartment in Miami Beach and my mother actually fed will Martin and Trey they call her Nana they preferred Nana’s food over craft services and she cooked for them everyday and babysat Trey and even called me at my job while I worked at the Doral country club to come to meet Will to which I declined telling Nana I have a job and I cannot come and meet Will even though he was recently separated or divorced I don’t know she was trying to hook us up together I didn’t show up and she told me that I was crazy said she would be cooking for him everyday and I should come and at least watch the filming of the movie because they loved her food so much and all the cast loved her as well, Will Smith looked liked the twin to her late Husband, Nana born and raised in Baltimore. I saw the interview with Will and Martin and I am praying for his Swift recovery grief can be a painful thing to move past I’m in the process of it even now finally coming out on the other side after my husband passing away and 4 months later my mom passed away Nana so Marty Mar you will come out on the other side bro the grace of the most high be with you and your family and Will , you keep on being all that the creator has called you to be let the light of the most high shine through you as you share your gift and your talents with the world
