The final play, in particular, is one Jackson State fans were not happy about.
“Womble made contact with the runner while having the ball,” Ken Clark, a Jackson State podcaster from “The 1400 Klub Tiger Talk,” posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Runner should have been out, but it’s the SWAC. Home of the worst officials on earth. Don’t matter the sport. We are on the short end of the stick & the outcome is not changing, but we will point out what happened.”
Grambling State, on the other hand, celebrated the program’s first conference championship in 14 years.

“I have seen some moments in Grambling sports history and this is definitely way up high on my list!” LaShanda Love, a former Grambling State University graduate and Yard Talk media member, posted on X.
The Tigers of GSU overcame a late 5-4 deficit to secure the win thanks to Trevor Hatton’s RBI single.
With the championship win, Grambling State is awarded a trip to the NCAA Tournament, and will face Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, on May 31 at 1 p.m.
