Thirteen years ago, J$PH performed in Dallas, and he came back in 2024 to set the stage on fire at the Toyota Music Den for the 2024 TwoGether Land Festival. The Arlington native performed a list of songs for the fans and spoke with rolling out afterward about his music journey and what he considers his sound.
How did it feel to come back here 13 years later?
It feels great to be here 13 years later where it kind of started for me. One of my first shows was here, nobody [was] in the crowd, and to be here at this moment means everything and it’s just proof of what hard work, dedication, and prayer can do.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe it as my name: joy, sacrifice, pain and hustle.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now musically?
Having my label situation, building artists, and keeping the good music going.
Why did you choose music as a career?
I didn’t choose music; as crazy as that sounds, it chose me, and it’s always been something I love.
Why do you think music is important to the culture today?
That’s what it’s supposed to do. It’s supposed to show us where we are as a people [and] culture. That’s what music does. It has the power to change lives and change everything. Shout-out to Bob Marley.

Bob Marley, Jay-Z, Miles Davis and Jermaine Dupri.
